Kate Csillagi (b.1981) is a multimedia artist hailing from Austin, TX. She attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Evergreen State College. Early on, Csillagi penned erotic zines, flyers & album covers. Her work evolved over the years to include large scale fabric tapestry, mixed media, and site specific installations. She currently shows work and contributes to renegade art spaces throughout the US and is a founding member of ICOSA, an artist-run collective and gallery in East Austin.

Csillagi’s artwork is disruptive and whimsical, calling on the inner daimon as a conduit for the metaphysical, divine, and absurd. Csillagi casts new mythologies through depictions of beasts and phantoms set in a psychedelic western. Her anthropomorphic characters have purpose - an axe to grind or an expedition to conduct. A spirited array for the weary, Csillagi's art dismantles reality in her dreamscapes and comical illustrations.
